Ah, bit of an install order prob here

You have to install Notes before Office, so that the mapi stuff gets in the registry, and is grabbed & locked in by Office

So if you've done an upgrade, the registry pointers all change to the new version, but the Office pointers don't 8-(

Only solution I've found is;
Uninstall Office
Uninstall old version of Notes
Install new version of Notes
Install Office

Bit of a pain, but it worked for my clients
